Power BI introduces Translytical Task Flows: Faster decisions for today’s CXOs

Until now, if you wanted to make changes or trigger workflows from Power BI, you needed external apps like Power Apps or Power Automate.

With the launch of Translytical Task Flows (Preview), that functionality is now built directly into Power BI. You can take action in the same place you view insights—without switching tools—and those actions can even write back to your live database in real time.

You can:

1. Update data instantly (e.g., change order status, update inventory, approve financial adjustments).
2. Approve or reject requests right in the report (with full logging for compliance).
3. Add notes or comments so context stays visible.
4. Trigger workflows like sending a Teams notification or updating a CRM record.

This shifts Power BI from being only a reporting tool to an execution platform—where insights and actions sit side by side.

Example in action:

Imagine reviewing a sales dashboard:

1. A region is behind target.
2. The sales team requests approval to offer slightly higher discounts.

Instead of going through emails and multiple approvals, you can:
✔ Approve (or reject) the request right inside the report.
✔ The decision writes back to the live database automatically.
✔ Forecasts update instantly with the new data.
