Ratan Tata has recently asked a question on twitter – “What should we do to make India a land of equal opportunity for all, free of prejudice and discrimination?” on 11th march, 2012. As you can imagine, it had big response. In all, there were more than 600 replies.
When we looked at this question, and many of the replies, we wanted to check what the replies meant in aggregate. That’s why, we put a word cloud together. In simple, what we did was, we put all the responses at one place. Then we eliminated all re-tweets and frivolous replies. We also merged similar words into one. E.g. Political and Politics were merged into Politics. Then we built a word cloud. If a word repeats, then that word gets higher weight and so bigger font size. Contrary to this, if a word repeats fewer times, then it will be in smaller font. Check out the word cloud below:
An obvious yet a surprising fact is that Education is the broad theme emerging from the tweets to make India a land of equal opportunity free of prejudice and discrimination. Surprisingly, Politics and Government seem to have a lesser role to play. Money, Finance or other terms related to finance also did not figure prominently.
I hope you can review the word cloud and the tweets to come up with your own insights. Please do share them in comments.

Absolutely thrilled, and wonderful analysis. This is what is relevant social analytics!
I wonder what would be the response if the question was “What should we do to make India a land of equal opportunity for all in politics / Legislative assembly / parliament?” Probably a glass barrier. How many parents would advise their children to take up politics as a career.
This is the first time I say a Word Cloud. It is an interesting way of focusing on a problem.
i think reservation based on caste system has to be removed and free primary education has to be implemented. the root cause is population burden n that has to be taken care.
Sadly “Education” never trends though at large
The basic root cause to every indian is lack of effective
education and the massive population. Let’s educate
ourselves and others by our own actions.
Our surrounding uneducated mass will see and learn from us.
Unorganized sector :-Lets have a look where we need immediate measure to minimize the disparity. Auto rickshaw,Child labour/exploitation, house maid,Veg vendor, contract workers,Beer bar girls,Political subsidy,Inflation vs Wages, delay in Janlokpal bill,Necessity of Black Money, Adulteration,Costly Education, corrupt babus/officer . can’t even have guts to think of India Land of equal opportunity -Incredible India, India Shining.
Respected sir, As per survey its clear to make our nation India developed in every perspective its very essential to plant seed of development at grassroots level by providing world class education facilities in every village of country.Children as well as farmers of that village be provided right guidance. All corporate leaders and business man should come forward and initiate a step to open such school cum training hub and connect them with main stream technological advancement. Lets not sit idle by saying its Govt. responsibility.PLEASE DO SOMETHING FOR GRASSROOTS EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
